Noticed for her “ warm and ethereal voice”  Kristina Bitenc is a rising soprano with wide repertoire as well in opera as in oratorio.

 

In the season 2016/17 Kristina was touring through the Netherlands with Dr. Miracle’s last illusion created by the young uprising opera company Opera2Day. Kristina is performing among others arias from La Sonnambula ( Ah, non credea mirarti) and Menotti’s opera The Medium.

In 2015 she received critical acclaim for her role debut as Eurydice in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice with the Nederlandse Reisopera staged by Floris Visser. In the Netherlands the opera was chosen as the Opera of the year 2015.

Ms. Bitenc is in great demand as a concert soloist as well as on the opera stage. She has distinguished herself in leading opera roles as Eurydice (Gluck), Sandrina (Mozart), Blanche and Elle ( Poulenc), Max ( Knussen), Mrs. Julian ( Britten), Gianetta ( Donizetti), Femme (Milhaud), Oscar ( Verdi).  She performed with opera companies such as Nederlandse Reisopera, Opera2day, Opéra National du Rhin, Opera Zuid.

Throughout her career Kristina has collaborated with many conductors including Reinbert de Leeuw, David Syrus,  Antony Hermus, Marko Letonja, Karel Deseure, Bas Wiegers, Patrick Davin, Claude Schnitzler, Vincent Monteil , Gordan Nikolic, Friedemann Layer, Leo Hussain and has performed with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovenian Radio Orchestra, Residentie Orkest, ASKO Schönberg ensemble, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg,  Noord Nederland Orkest, Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, Dutch Youth Orchestra, Philharmonie Zuidnederland.

 

In the years 2012-14 Kristina was member of the Opera studio at the Opéra National du Rhin where she participated in productions such as Blanche neige  (La Souris, Le Nain Oups ) by Lange, La belle ou bois dormant (La fée bleue/ Princesse) by Respighi, Aladin et la lampe merveilleuse ( La Princesse Badr-al Budur)

by Rota and Owen Wingrave ( Mrs. Julian) by Britten, Le Pauvre Matelot ( Femme) by Milhaud and Der ferne Klang (Mizi) by Schrecker. She also participated in the guest performances of the Strasbourg Opera studio at the Atelier-Théâtre Louis Jouvet (Paris).

Ms. Bitenc studied violin at an early age but soon discovered her real passion, singing. Subsequently she graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the Royal Conservatory in the Hague with Barbara Pearson. She was then selected to join the Dutch National Opera Academy from 2010-2012, where she received her Master´s Degree in Opera with distinction. She is coached by Brian Masuda and Ira Siff.
